The Remembering & The Ancient (1974)

While live versions of the first and last movements of Tales from Topographic Oceans abound, versions of “The Remembering” and “The Ancient” are not as common. Here are the second and third movements, taken from the awesome “Boston Tea-FTO Party” boot. Recorded at the Boston Garden on February 26, 1974, this has to be the best audience recording from the Tales tour – for early 1974, it’s surprisingly good. As of this post, the entire show is available on Dime. Enjoy!

This is a superb quality recording for the time period. I saw this at Sheffield City Hall in Nov 73, I have a recording someone gave me but it’s poor quality. I heard this live befoe the album came out (not released until Dec 73), I have to say hearing this live is mind blowing, sadly the album version can’t match it.I realise why Steve won’t play it live now due to problems of ‘timing’, it is clear there are timing issues on the live version here. However it’s a great loss to the set list this would make a fantastic addition!brotherofmine

I agree – the live versions of the Tales material far surpassed the studio. While I love the original album, the live versions (as with many other Yessongs) have a fresh edge and intensity that just elevates it to the next level.

I just figured out how the comnments work, so I had posted this in the wrong place, if you want you can delete it from the Welcome Thread.I don’t have an account, but I am known on YesFans and AGP as OldRelayer, maybe we have chatted. I was at the 1974 show in Boston, until now that only copy I had of “The Remembering” Live was the Detroit show. I like this better and not to mention the thrill of hearing the actually show that I went to in 1974, great job, thanks for posting it. I am downloading Awaken, I wasn’t there but your description was intriguing.

I just re-listened to the Ancient and was freshly impressed. Especially the jam approaching the “Leaves of Green” section. It’s a great jam, very Grateful Dead-like in a spacey way. Very cool…

Movies of every genre can be obtained from Buried and Prowl
in horror to gems like No Strings Attached in romantic comedies.

Of course, you might have options like Fox – Torrent
for Firefox as well as the Opera Browser. It can be better to have a very bootable disc that will diagnose drive and
memory problems and offer the Windows recovery environment to regenerate your
backup to the same or possibly a new hard drive.

  12. I do not comment, however I read a few of the remarks on
this page The Remembering & The Ancient (1974) | Yesshows.
I actually do have 2 questions for you if you do
not mind. Could it be simply me or do some of the comments come across like they are left
by brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you are writing
at other online social sites, I’d like to follow everything fresh you have
to post. Could you list of all of your social pages like your
twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
