Steve Howe Trio (2007)

Ok, this is really cool. Here are two cuts of the Steve Howe Trio from May 19, 2007. Recorded at The Platform in Morecambe, England, this is essentially jazz with Steve accompanied by his son, Dylan, on drums and Ross Stanley on Hammond organ. Here’s a link to the complete show on Dime.

I chose two Yes songs for posting:

Clap: Now before you say, “Another predictable version of Clap…” just check this out. It’s a very jazzy, six minute version that is anything but the standard fare that we’re all used to. For starters, Steve is on electric. Best take on this I have ever heard.

Close to the Edge: A real “edgy” (pun intended) four and a half minute jam. This stays somewhat close to the original themes, but has a jazzy feel to it that I think is very cool.

Cool stuff, nice to hear Steve mix it up a bit, certainly a risk on what is obviously such an easy crowd pleaser!

Wow, finally something worth listening to. These tracks don’t hurt my ears like some of your other recent updates. All in all, the effort is much appreciated. But like many have written before me…to some of us, sound quality is of the utmost importance. Keep up the good work.

I appreciate your desires for hi-quality sound, I strive for it as well. But as I posted previously, some rarities are just as they are – the only known versions and the quality is what it is. For non-rare stuff, I try to limit the posts to at least A-. I just acquired two FM broadcasts – one from Phoenix 3/22/1984 and another from Stuttgart 5/31/1991. I’ll probably post some tracks from the latter – quality is A/A+. Probably the Union songs plus Awaken…

Hey Rich, it’s me. I just posted something new on Yesfans.com in the Yesmusic section, encouraging people to share their live / rare material. I need you to back me up. I noticed you haven’t been updating the site much these days, so I’m sure you’re real busy. Anyway, if you have time, check out the thread and maybe write something or post something. Hope all is well with you.
